How much does leak detection cost in West Sussex?

Water leaks in a property can go unnoticed for a very long period of time, before suddenly making their presence felt. The financial burden of water damage can be tremendous, costing potentially thousands of pounds to resolve. In addition to the structural damage caused by leaks and water damage, when left unchecked for a period of time, health issues can occur thanks to the growth of mould and mildew which release unwelcome spores into the air, exacerbating conditions such as asthma and other respiratory problems.

Thankfully there is a solution, and leak detection can help solve the issue of costly, hazardous and disruptive water leaks once and for all.

What’s the cost of leak detection?

As with all services of this nature, the true cost of leak detection will vary from project to project, dependent upon the scale of the problem and the current state of any existing water damage. The equipment and materials required to find and fix the problem are also contributing factors when calculating the overall cost of a specific job. Customers are encouraged not to worry too much about the cost, as the majority of household insurance policies will cover any work which is required, saving you money and giving you extra piece of mind as well as ensuring a fix!

How do you find a water leak?

Depending on the scale of the problem, using adequate equipment most leaks can be found relatively speedily. On occasion, one or more varieties of leak detection equipment might be used, to ensure the issue is handled thoroughly.

What equipment do you use?

There is a range of different kit used to help detect a water leak, including thermal imaging which measures the heat in objects. We use this equipment to measure the heat from pipes, allowing us to scope out where water is escaping by providing us with an image on our interface screen. In addition, we rely on an endoscope or bore scope – these tiny cameras look into side walls to spot leaks, mould and mildew.

Tracer gas can also be pushed through the pipes to check whether it escapes (this gas is safe to use and doesn’t damage humans, animals or plants). We also use acoustic leak detection, checking for sounds of leaking, a moisture meter using sonar technology, and water analysis kits to detect where water is leaking.

The cost of unresolved leaking can be hugely detrimental to your home, so if you are based in Guildford, Horsham, Worthing or the surrounding area, get in touch today to find out how we can help detect the source of your water leak quickly.
